Toll Services
Elmet Technologies takes pride in not only offering an extensive product lineup but also in providing a comprehensive assortment of unique toll services. These services include extrusion, forging, and both hot and cold rolling. We aim to deliver a complete range of refractory metal solutions.

By incorporating toll services into our offerings, we actively bridge any production gaps, ensuring that a wide array of refractory metal products is always accessible. Our established processes guarantee that the finished products are of the highest quality, thanks to our cutting-edge equipment and unparalleled expertise. As a result, customers benefit from precision-crafted solutions that meet their specific needs.
Extrusion Toll Services
At Elmet, we use a 5,500 metric ton extrusion press to extrude rods, tubes, and complex cross sections ranging from 152-432mm (6–17in) in diameter. Gas-fired or inert atmosphere induction furnaces can preheat billets to temperatures up to 1925°C (3500°F). You can control the extrusion ram speed between 1.27-203mm/sec (0.05-8.0 in/sec).
Our diverse extrusion services can meet the needs of virtually any application. We work with a broad range of materials including many which are traditionally difficult to extrude.
Rotary Forging Process
The forging process is an advanced manufacturing method that significantly boosts efficiency while simultaneously decreasing material waste. The expertise of Elmet specialists and the use of the largest rotary forge in the US help develop custom components and design alloy materials. These efforts ensure that the unique performance needs and standards of forged products are consistently met.

Hot and Cold Rolling
Many industries rely on hot and cold rolling processes as part of their manufacturing. Typically, whether this is for recycled metal powders or ‘fresh’ materials, starting materials are in the form of thick ‘sheetbars’. Knowing the right rolling conditions and parameters for a sheet is key to getting the right surface quality. Good results also rely on correct pre-processing of the materials.
Elmet Technologies specializes in hot and cold rolling. Our team of highly qualified process engineers and production developers are experts in the field. We operate over 9 rolling mills, producing sheets in a variety of sizes. We also offer different sheet thicknesses for refractory and specialty metals. Our large cold rolling operation transforms thick ‘sheetbars’ into plate. This process uses several annealing/rolling cycles and applies 3 million pounds of force.
